Farranfore Maine Valley AC 53rd Annual St. Stephens Day Road race was held on Friday 26th December 2014. It was a very wet morning with a cool breeze. Thankfully by the race start time the rain had eased so conditions were reasonably good.
There was 340 entries for this years run.
This is an out and back course but unfortunately due to some miscommunication the return mark was not placed correctly which resulted in the runners were forced to run an extra 650m. The total distance was 5.65Km instead of the planned 5k.

Tuesday 6th August 2013
Monday saw the Rock n Roll Half Marathon series come to Dublin with 6500 entrants, it turned out to be a very enjoyable and well ran race, the idea of having a live band at every mile of the course gave everyone a boost and made each mile that bit easier, some runners dressed up in anything from Elvis outfits to Jimi Hendrix, although some wore headphones.
The race started in St Stephen’s Green down the Quays past the Brewery(no time for a pint) into Phoenix Park , Military Road past the Halfway point and downhill onto Chapelizod Road , Sarsfields Road past Inchicore at 10 miles(didn’t even see the Football Stadium, tunnell vison at this stage) and onto South Circular Road through Harcourt St and to the finish line in Earlsfort Terrace to be greeted by the Delorentos Map
While the course was not very hilly there were some tough inclines around Halfway and towards the finish when the legs are tired and anything other than level ground feels like a tough slog, the weather stayed dry throughout and was far cooler than some of the recent Marathons over the past month which made for a more enjoyable experience.
Star of the Laune’s Alison Kirwan 1:40 Sean Murphy 1:40 and Tracy Murphy 1:51 took part

The Tralee International Marathon got off to a great start with blue skies and sunshine greeting the runners as they lined up for the inaugural event. Upwards of 1400 runners took part between the full Marathon and the Half-Marathon.
The route for the full Marathon headed north-west to Ardfert before heading south-west towards Fenit, Spa, The Kerries, Blennerville, and back to Tralee. it was tough with a lot of hills including 2 very tough ones with very little level ground along the way.
The Half Marathon route left Tralee and headed to Ardfert, took a left at the crossroads and out towards Spa, then through The Kerries and back to Tralee. The support along the way was fantastic no doubt helped by the weekend that was in it and the weather.
The finish was as good as you could get in any Marathon as it approached Tralee along the canal with great support and into the Town Park oposite the Brandon Hotel for the finish. Overall a very scenic route, very well Marshalled and hopefully as it does not clash with any race of similar distance around this time the hope is it will attract more interest year on year!
